The BTM Centre of Excellence
Described as the most modern amateur music facility in Wales, the refurbished BTM Bandroom - now called the "BTM Centre of Excellence" - was officially opened on the 5th June 2010 by Len Bowden (one of BTM’s Life Members), and Caerphilly AM (Assembly Member) Jeff Cuthbert.
Following two successful applications to the Welsh Government’s Community Facilities and Activities Programme in 2008 and 2010, the BTM Bandroom has been completely refurbished. It now houses a large ground floor rehearsal room, good access and toilets for disabled people, a state-of-the-art recording studio, new kitchen facilities and a brand new first floor with rehearsal, meeting and conductor’s rooms, as well as a library and secretary’s room.
The second grant in 2010 was to make the bandroom as ecologically efficient as possible, with solar panels and rainwater harvesting equipment being installed in November 2011. The final part of the refurbishment was to install a moveable partition wall in the centre of the rehearsal room, to allow this space to be used for other activities when the band is not using the building.
In 2017, the band's studio was rebranded to the "Red and Black Studio". This facility is a high quality recording company run by musicians for musicians based in the Caerphilly area, available for hire by rock bands, vocalists, instrumentalists, choirs and more.
